Safety Film First, Then a 90 kg Double-Glazed Unit for an Anglesea Home

The external panel of a 90 kg double-glazed sliding door shattered at a property in Anglesea.

A double-glazed unit cannot be part-replaced on the spot. It is a sealed assembly, made to order, so there was always going to be a wait between the break and the fix.

Temporary safety film, not a board-up

We made the glass safe the same day using temporary safety film rather than boarding the opening.

That choice matters on a modern coastal home. Film holds the shattered outer pane in place and keeps the opening weather-tight and secure, while the homeowner keeps their light and their view. Plywood over a sliding door would have done the security job and made the room unusable for a week.

Replaced with Viridian EnergyTech

The replacement was a Viridian EnergyTech double-glazed unit, a high-performance product designed to improve thermal efficiency and reduce heat transfer, keeping the house cooler in summer and warmer in winter without changing its clear, modern appearance.

Once the custom unit was manufactured we returned and installed the new toughened double-glazed panel, restoring both the appearance and the thermal performance of the door.
