Truck Crane Hire in Geelong

An Isuzu 200 series carrying a PM 3623 knuckle boom crane and a purpose built glass rack. It lifts 990 kg close in, reaches 10 metres straight up, and still holds 330 kg at 7.45 metres out, so it places panels over a fence, across a garden or up to a first floor from the street, without a crane truck having to be booked in from Melbourne.

The truck is being built and fitted out now. If you have work coming up, tell us about it and we will let you know the week it is on the road.

The Machine

What the PM 3623 Actually Does

A hydraulic knuckle boom mounted behind the cab. It folds down small for travel, then unfolds and reaches out over obstacles that a straight boom or a forklift cannot get past.

What It Lifts, and How Far Out

Reach is what people underestimate. The number that matters is not the maximum lift, it is what the crane still holds at the distance your job actually needs. The 3623 works to 10 metres straight up and about seven and a half metres out, and the boom also drops below the level the truck is standing on.

How to read this chart

The left hand figure is the distance out from the crane, the right hand figure is what it will lift at that distance. So a 400 kg panel is comfortable at six metres and out of range at seven and a half. Work out where the truck can physically stand, measure from there to where the load has to land, then read the capacity at that distance. On the envelope diagram, the numbers up the right hand side are metres of height and the numbers along the bottom are metres out, so you can read both at once. Note that the curves continue below the zero line, roughly two metres under the level the truck is parked on, which is what lets it place a load down a slope or into a lower courtyard rather than only up. These are the PM published figures for the 3623. Send us the weight and the distance and we will confirm it against the chart and the site before anything is booked.

Reach, Not Just Capacity

What a Truck Crane Does That a Glass Lifter Cannot

Our Jekko MPK06 glass lifter works inside buildings and reaches just over two metres. The truck crane is the other half of the job. It works from the street or the driveway and reaches more than seven.

Over the obstacle, not through it

A knuckle boom folds at the elbow, so it can go up and over a fence, a carport, a pergola or a garden bed and come down the other side. A straight boom or a forklift has to get level with the load and drive at it.

The glass travels on the same truck

The body is a purpose built glass rack, so the panel is carried, delivered and lifted by one vehicle. No transferring a sheet between a delivery truck and a hire crane, which is where most glass gets damaged.

First floor work from ground level

Balcony balustrades, upper storey windows and roof lights can be reached from the driveway rather than built up to with scaffold, which changes both the cost and the time on site.

Not only glass

It is a hook and sling crane, so it handles stone, steel, tanks, pallets and plant as readily as a glass panel. If it is within the chart and it can be slung safely, it can be lifted.

Not Just Glass

What People Hire It For

If the load is inside the chart and there is somewhere legal and level to put the outriggers, it is worth a call.

Large glass and double glazed units delivered and placed
Balcony and pool balustrade panels to first floor
Shopfront panels lifted from the footpath
Stone benchtops over a fence or through a courtyard
Steel beams, lintels and posts into position
Water tanks, pumps and plant onto stands
Pallets of material onto a first floor or a roof
Air conditioning units onto roofs and platforms
Spa and pool shells over an obstacle

Rates and Availability

We would rather tell you where this is up to than take a booking we cannot keep.

The truck is still being built

The PM 3623 crane is fitted and the glass rack is going on now. It is not on the road yet, so we are not taking firm bookings or publishing a day rate for it until it is finished and certified.

If you have work coming up, send it through anyway. We will tell you honestly whether the truck will be ready in time, and if it will not, we will either quote it on our glass lifter or point you to someone who can do it sooner.

Tell us the weight, the distance the crane has to reach, and roughly when, and we will come back to you.

Tell Us About the Lift

Send through what needs lifting, how heavy it is, how far the crane would have to reach, and the site address. We will work out whether it is inside the chart and let you know where the truck is up to.
