Why the answer that night was a board-up, not glass

What we actually did
Our glaziers cleaned up the shattered glass and installed a temporary timber board-up, which secured the home against both weather and intruders while the replacement panel was made to size and specification.
The breakage itself was a spontaneous toughened failure, caused by internal stress or a manufacturing flaw rather than anything the homeowner did.
