Colac Glass Replacement – Supercheap Auto Shopfront Repair

When a large front window shattered at Supercheap Auto in Colac, Barwon Glass was called in for an urgent replacement. We attended the site the same day to assess and safely remove the damaged panel — but this job presented an unexpected challenge.

The internal side of the glass was completely blocked by a wall that had been built in front of it, leaving no internal access to cut out the old silicone. With no way to safely release the glass from inside, our team needed to think creatively to complete the replacement efficiently and safely.

Using a diamond-tipped saw, we carefully cut the damaged panel out externally — ensuring no damage to the surrounding cladding or aluminium framing. Once removed, the frame was cleaned and prepped before installing a new laminated safety glass panel compliant with AS1288 – Glass in Buildings.

The new glass is now awaiting the sign writer to install a fresh external vinyl sticker, restoring the shopfront’s clean, branded look to match the surrounding windows.
