A 6am Break-In on Pakington Street, Trading Again Within the Hour
On this page
The call came in at 6:00am after a break-in at a retail shop on Pakington Street, Geelong West. The front shop door glass had been smashed.
On site in 45 minutes
Our glaziers were on site within 45 minutes to make the area safe and secure.
Timing is everything on a retail break-in. The shop is due to open, the premises are standing open in the meantime, and every hour before trading starts is an hour of stock sitting behind a hole in the door.
Cleared, checked, and re-glazed within the hour
We removed the damaged glass, cleaned up all the loose fragments and checked the door frame to confirm it was straight and ready for immediate re-glazing.
That frame check matters after a forced entry. A door that has been attacked is often distorted at the lock stile or the corner, and glazing into a bent frame just puts the new panel under load from the day it goes in.
The frame was sound, so the door was replaced the same day within an hour using laminated safety glass matched to the original specification.
Open on time
The business was able to continue trading with minimal disruption, which on a break-in is the actual measure of the job.
