The Dog Cut Its Paws, and the Plate Glass Was the Reason

A dog jumped against a timber door at a property in Teesdale and broke the lower glass panel.
The door was fitted with standard plate glass. It broke into sharp shards, and the dog received cuts to its paws.
Safety glass exists because of exactly this
A dog hitting a door is completely ordinary. It happens in thousands of houses and normally amounts to nothing.
What decided the outcome here was the glass. Plate glass breaks into large, sharp fragments that behave like blades, and a low-level door panel is at exactly the height a dog goes through and a child falls against.
Compliant safety glass in the same door means the same jump ends with a cracked panel and a startled dog, not a vet visit.
What we did
Our team removed the damaged glass safely, cleaned up the area, and replaced the panel with compliant safety glass meeting modern glazing requirements, reducing the injury risk going forward.
