Narrow Reeded Glass and a Radius Corner in a Curved Highton Bathroom
On this page
A modern bathroom in Highton called for something other than a standard clear screen. The customer wanted a custom-sized single panel in narrow reeded fluted glass, with a soft radius corner to echo the curved design theme running through the room.
Why reeded glass suits a bathroom
Fluted glass has become popular for a practical reason as much as an aesthetic one. The vertical texture diffuses the view without blocking light, so a shower keeps its privacy without the room feeling closed in or losing brightness.
Frosting achieves privacy by killing light. Reeded achieves it by bending light instead.
The detail that made this one custom
The panel was manufactured in 10 mm toughened safety glass with a vertical narrow reeded texture, and a radius corner rather than a square one.
That corner has to be right at manufacture. Toughened glass cannot be cut, ground or reshaped afterwards, so the curve, the size and every edge finish are committed before the panel is tempered. There is no adjusting it on site.
Under the feature LED wall niche the reeding produces a soft diffused light effect across the panel.
Installation
Our glaziers installed the screen with precision-aligned brackets and waterproof silicone sealing. On a single heavy panel the bracket alignment is what keeps it safe and square long term, and the silicone is what stops water tracking behind the screen into the wall.
