Patterned Glass They Do Not Make Any More, and a Front Entry That Ended Up Matching

One of the front entry glass panels at a Leopold home shattered over the weekend. The customer could not secure the area themselves and the house was left exposed, so this needed a make safe and a replacement immediately.
The problem: the original glass no longer exists
The entry was glazed in older patterned glass that is no longer manufactured.
That leaves two options, and neither is a perfect match. You can chase a salvaged panel, which takes time the homeowner did not have with the house open. Or you replace with something current and accept that one panel will differ from its neighbours.
With the property exposed, security won. We fitted clear safety glass and had the house fully secure that same day.
What happened next
The customer liked the result. The clear glass looked more modern than the patterned original, and rather than living with one odd panel they asked us back to replace the remaining panels so the whole front entry matched.
That is often the better outcome when a discontinued glass is involved. Instead of hunting for a match to a dated pattern, the entry gets brought up to a current safety specification and reads as deliberate rather than repaired.
