A Sliding Window That Fell Out of Its Frame Into the Bedroom
On this page
A sliding window panel at a Norlane property came completely out of its frame and shattered inside the bedroom.
Not a breakage from outside. The panel simply left the frame.
Two faults, not one
This is the part worth understanding. Glass that falls out of a slider is rarely a glass problem, it is a frame problem.
Something has gone wrong with how the panel is held, whether that is the sash sitting out of alignment, worn or missing wedges, or the panel riding out of its channel. Replace the glass alone and the new panel is sitting in the same faulty frame, waiting to do exactly the same thing.
So both got fixed
We safely removed all the broken glass, cleaned the area, and installed a new panel meeting AS1288.
Then the sliding window itself was realigned and refitted into the aluminium frame, so it runs smoothly and seals properly, and the panel is actually supported rather than resting where it fell short last time.
Before
After
The job in short
- Site: Residential bedroom, Norlane
- Failure: Sliding window panel fell out of its frame and shattered indoors
- Root cause: Frame and alignment, not the glass alone
- Work done: New panel to AS1288, sliding window realigned and refitted into the aluminium frame
