Our team was recently called out to Lara Pharmacy to carry out a full shopfront glass replacement after the existing panel developed a significant crack.
The original panel was float glass, which is no longer compliant with current Australian Standards for public-facing areas. Float glass poses a serious safety risk as it breaks into large, dangerous shards that can cause severe injury. For businesses operating in high-foot-traffic areas, having outdated glass is not only a safety concern but also a liability risk.
Once onsite, we assessed the damage and arranged for a full panel replacement using laminated safety glass. Laminated glass is specifically designed to remain intact when broken, with a built-in interlayer that holds the glass together and helps prevent injury in the event of impact. It’s the current standard for shopfronts, schools, and other areas where public safety is a priority.
The job was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to the pharmacy’s trading hours. The new panel not only brings the premises up to compliance but also improves safety for both customers and staff.
If you have an older shopfront or cracked panels, get in touch with our team to discuss an upgrade to compliant, safety-rated glass.
