Lara Glass Replacement – Pharmacy Shopfront Upgrade to Laminated Safety Glass

The Barwon Glass team was recently called out to Lara Pharmacy to carry out a complete shopfront glass replacement after the existing panel developed a significant crack. The original glass was standard float glass — now non-compliant with Australian Standards for public areas.

Float glass poses a serious safety risk, as it can shatter into large, sharp shards that may cause severe injury. For public-facing businesses like pharmacies, retail stores, and medical clinics, outdated float glass creates both a safety hazard and liability concern.

Once onsite, we assessed the damage and replaced the panel with laminated safety glass — the industry standard for shopfronts, schools, and other high-foot-traffic areas. Laminated glass stays intact when broken thanks to its interlayer, helping prevent injury and improving security.

The project was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to trade. The new panel not only brings the property up to current safety standards but also provides peace of mind for staff and customers alike.
