A large glass panel at a Geelong shopping centre was damaged and centre management called us for an urgent replacement.
Make safe comes first in a public building
In a shopping centre the damaged panel is surrounded by people who have no idea it is damaged. Before any measuring or ordering, the area has to be made safe and kept that way while the replacement is arranged.
That is the difference between commercial work in a trading building and the same panel in an empty unit: the hazard management runs the whole length of the job, not just the installation.
Replaced in laminated to AS1288
The replacement was carried out in laminated safety glass in accordance with AS1288, giving the centre long-term safety, durability and clarity for customers and staff.
The area was restored to its proper appearance as well as its compliance, which in a retail environment is not a secondary concern.
