Guests Checking In That Night, and a Cracked Door on Friday Evening
On this page
An Airbnb property in Torquay had a laminated glass door panel crack late on a Friday evening. New guests were checking in the same night.
The deadline was hours, not days
A cracked laminated panel is not an open house. The interlayer holds it together, so the building was still secure.
What it was not was ready to hand over to paying guests. A visibly damaged entry door on a short-stay property is a safety question the host cannot answer and a review they do not want, and the check-in was already booked.
Attended immediately
We attended straight away and completed the replacement the same evening, removing the broken panel and installing new laminated safety glass to AS1288.
The new glass was sealed and refitted into the existing timber door frame. Keeping the original frame matters on a job like this: replacing the door outright would have taken days and changed the look of the entry, when the frame itself was sound and only the glass had failed.
