A Shopping Trolley Into a Kiosk Front at Waurn Ponds

At Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, the shopfront window of a local cobbler and key kiosk was struck by a shopping trolley. The laminated panel was left with a large spider-web crack through its lower section.
The laminated glass did its job first
This is a good demonstration of why laminated is specified for commercial frontage.
A trolley strike is a hard, concentrated impact at exactly the height where shoppers walk past. The panel cracked, but the interlayer held every fragment in place. Nobody was cut, nothing fell into the walkway, and the kiosk stayed enclosed and trading until we could replace it.
The same impact on non-laminated glass at a busy centre entrance is a very different incident.
Replaced during trading
Our glaziers removed the damaged laminated panel and installed a new laminated shopfront panel meeting current AS1288 standards, working around the centre so disruption to the business was minimal.
Clear visibility and security restored for a kiosk whose whole frontage is its shop window.
